MANILA -- Long lines and dreaded wait times are often what one thinks of when walking towards a train station.

But those running the LRT are looking to change that via Railway Jams, a series of live performances being held inside their stations from handpicked, up and coming local artists.

In partnership with the Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-Aawit (OPM), Railway Jams has been running regularly since January and is set to continue as the year enters its second half.

Schedules are posted on this Instagram page.

"We recognize the wealth of talent in our local OPM musicians, and we wanted to give them an open space to showcase those gifts," Juan Felipe Alfonso, the president of Light Rail Manila Corporation, said. "In doing so, we also wanted to entertain our riding public and ease the stresses of commuting."

Last month's roster included relatively unknown artists such as Miss Ramonne, who has three songs to her name so far on Spotify.

Artists like her are exactly who Runway Jams is looking to spotlight, with OPM head Ogie Alcasid describing them as "talented," "eager," and singers who "deserve to be heard and supported by as many as possible."

Shows are currently being held at the Baclaran, Doroteo Jose, and Monumento LRT-1 stations.
