MANILA — After more than a decade, Journey frontman Arnel Pineda came “full circle” Tuesday night with an intimate performance at the grand opening of Hard Rock Café Manila.
It was a homecoming of sorts which Pineda relished. By his count, since he joined Journey, “it’s been 11 years of not doing this kind of intimate show.”
“It feels so good, it feels amazing. I’ve missed this. This is the part of my life that I’ve missed doing. Since Journey found me in 2007, I’ve stopped doing this. I love it,” he told ABS-CBN News after his performance.
Pineda took the stage at the S Maison venue in Pasay with a medley of Queen hits, among others. With his soaring voice and rock-star spirit, Pineda felt right at home, he said; Hard Rock Café, after all, saw years of his performances when it was still located in Makati.
In total, Pineda was a regular at Hard Rock Café Manila for five years, with different bands — from 2001 to 2002 with the 9mm, and from 2005 to 2007 with Zoo.
“I consider myself an alumnus of Hard Rock Café. I would like this to happen again, if they want me back,” he said
