MANILA – Claudine Barretto could not hide her happiness when she talked about her renewed relationship with her older sister Gretchen, with whom she had a falling out that led to their estrangement for years.

Speaking on “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” Claudine said she and Gretchen are very much closer now following their reconciliation.

“I am so, so happy. I just love her so much. Mas close kami ngayon sobra. 'Yung feeling ko when I’m with my sister now, parang I’m in love because I wake up, I’m happy. She’s always positive, she’s happy lang. Ang kulit namin kasi wala ng ibang nakikisali sa amin. We can just be ourselves,” she said.

Recalling how they actually patched things up, Claudine said it happened effortlessly and surprisingly without tears.

“Sabina had this thing for G-Force in Resorts World so doon kami nag-stay. They were in Impressions and our friend called and said na, ‘Your Ate is downstairs.’ I was taking my time. I thought na she’d leave na kasi maaga umuuwi 'yun. So ang ginawa ko, late na ako bumaba,” she narrated.

Little did Claudine know, her sister waited at the restaurant to see her.

“Nandoon pa rin siya, she waited for me. When we saw each other, no crying. We just hugged each other and then I’m sorry and I love you,” she said.

Claudine said she has now come to realize that everything Gretchen says or does “always comes from a good place” and for her best interest.

Since they let the bygones be bygones, the formerly estranged sisters appear to be catching up on lost time, as they often post on social media their bonding moments.

When asked what they talk about whenever they are together, Claudine said: “Everything. Sabi nga ni Tony (Boy Cojuangco), ‘You know when you’re together, the two of you, you’re always laughing. You’re not like that with other people.’ Si Tony din hanggang madaling araw, he’d stay up and listen to our kuwentos.”

Did they ever talk about their past rift?

“Hindi detailed but we said na from now on, if we hear anything, let’s talk to each other first or call me. Ako muna, ask me,” Claudine said.

The actress said it is comforting to have her big sister around again, not just for her but also for her children.

“She’s so in love with my kids. She put Sabina sa G-Force again, si Santino sa art class. She’s helping me raise my children. And Dada also. Parang it’s nice kasi at least ngayon, may tatay na 'yung mga anak ako and may Mama Nen sila,” she said.

It was around 2013 when their feud began because Gretchen shared allegations about Claudine's alleged mental health and drug problems. This resulted in her being publicly disowned by her parents, who backed Claudine.
