MANILA – JM de Guzman assured his fans of his strong resolve to stay substance-free, especially now that ABS-CBN has given him another chance at showbiz.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, de Guzman said he continuously seeks help from his support group and attends their monthly meetings.
“Meron po kaming monthly requirement to attend therapy sessions nung mga peers ko sa loob kasama 'yung family namin para tuloy-tuloy 'yung support,” he said.
“Kailangan maging humble enough pa rin ako to seek help always. Kasi recovery is a life-long struggle or fight. Kapag tumigil ako humingi ng tulong or ng support, doon ako puwedeng madapa po ulit.”
De Guzman said he will graduate from the after-care support group in July but he will be joining the graduates' support group immediately thereafter.
Meanwhile, de Guzman thanks his management for never failing to believe in him despite what he’s been through.
“Actually 'yung expectations ko nga po, tinanggal ko na. Nung time na pinayagan ako ng rehab to reintegrate and make amends sa ABS, pumunta po ako dito kasama 'yung counselor ko. Wala po akong in-expect na kahit ano. Nagulat nga po ako na meron pa po silang plano for me. Sobra ko pong na-appreciate,” he said.
De Guzman is currently busy working on his comeback TV project “Precious Hearts Romances: Araw Gabi.”
He will play the role of Adrian, whose life is full of darkness. He is the CEO of the Olividar Group of Companies where Tranquila Resort, a vacation spot situated in El Paraiso, is part of.
Because of a sin he committed 18 years ago, he is considered a beast by his employees and an outcast in his hometown.
The series will start airing on ABS-CBN on April 30.
