MANILA – If Yam Concepcion would have it her way, she would not want her character in the primetime series “Halik” to be jailed for adultery.
She said this in an interview last Thursday after her co-star, Jericho Rosales, revealed that the creators of the show have yet to decide on the series' ending.
“Ayaw ko sana makulong, sa totoo lang. Bakit naman ako ikukulong? Kriminal ba ako?” she said candidly.
When asked directly how she wants to end it, Concepcion said: “Happy family kaming tatlo,” referring to her character as Jade, Lino (Rosales), and their firstborn son CJ.
“Gusto ko sana i-save 'yung marriage, na 'yun 'yung lesson na ma-impart, na ang pag-aasawa hindi biro iyan. You have to value it,” she added.
Now that “Halik” is down to its final two weeks, Concepcion said she is having mixed emotions because the show has done a lot to her career.
“Masaya na makakapagpahinga pero malungkot din na matatapos na rin 'yung show. Ang daming memories kasi and ang laki ng naitulong ng show na ito sa aking career. Ang dami kong natutunan. Sepanx talaga. Mahal ko silang lahat,” she said.
Concepcion said she will never forget how “Halik” made her shine as an actress.
“Nagkaroon ako ng first acting award ever. Apat!” she exclaimed. “'Yung una parang Trending Actress, tapos TV Actress, tapos 'yung Guillermo, and then recently for Gawad Pilipino na Best Actress.”
Explaining why this means so much to her, Concepcion said: “Invested kasi ako nang sobra. Once you’ve invested so much of your heart, your soul, your mind sa isang character, tapos makukuha mo 'yung ganung balik, ang sarap sa pakiramdam. It inspires me to do better and to learn more.”
She went on to share that “Halik” taught her how to become humble and a better listener.
“It’s not wrong to accept mistakes and also hindi lahat ng bagay, alam mo so magtanong ka rin,” she said.
“Halik” airs on ABS-CBN from Monday to Friday after “The General’s Daughter.”
