Dimples Romana, known for her string of memorable supporting roles in Kapamilya series and films, shared that she was once caught off guard by her teenage daughter asking, "Why are you not bida?"
The 33-year-old actress recalled the conversation during her interview in the episode of "Tonight with Boy Abunda" on Monday.
Romana had just won back-to-back awards for her roles when her 13-year-old daughter, Callie, observed that her trophies were both for supporting roles, prompting the question.
Quoting her answer to Callie, Romana narrated: "'I don't know anak. But to tell you frankly, I'm okay where I am. For the 21 years that I have been an actor, I have reached a point where I do not mind where I am, where I'll be, where I came from. What is important to me is my dream of being an actor is still very alive, because I'm still working."
Among Romana's first acting roles was in the ABS-CBN soap opera "Esperanza" in 1997. Since then, she has had no shortage of acting projects, including the fantaserye "Bagani," where she plays the shaman Gloria, and the romance-drama film "My Perfect You," where she portrayed the sister of lead star Gerald Anderson.
Re-phrasing the question of Romana's daughter, host Boy Abunda asked Romana if she ever wished to get a top-billing in a project and for once be the "bida."
She answered: "No, I have never found myself praying to be a lead for any of my work. My prayer every day is just that I will have work. If it will happen, then I will be grateful, I will embrace the challenge, but if it doesn't happen, it is still okay with my heart."
