MANILA — Over 20 artists came together on Wednesday for a concert stream, dubbed "Faith Over Fear" — the latest organized fundraising effort from the entertainment industry amid the coronavirus crisis.
The program specifically benefits freelance workers in the live events industry, which has seen successive cancellations of shows due to the pandemic lockdown.
Workers ranging from production assistants to utility staff will receive the total amount raised, divided equally among them, to help tide the quarantine period with no job opportunities in their field.
The nearly three-hour Facebook Live show featured performers from showbiz and theater, who each paid tribute to workers behind the scenes as they lent their voice to "Faith Over Fear's" cause.
Among those who appeared with pre-recorded performances were Martin Nievera, Lani Misalucha, Ebe Dancel, Arnel Pineda, Jamie Rivera, and Jett Pangan.
As of writing, "Faith Over Fear" has raised nearly P500,000, according to the show's hosts Frank Mamaril and Blaise Rodriguez.
