MANILA -- For Zius Galit, it wasn't really that difficult to turn Yoyoy Villame's "Mag-exercise Tayo" into an anthem about the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Galit, who makes a living out of song parodies, noted that the novelty song was already about staying health.
In an interview on "Magandang Buhay," he shared that he decided to make the parody when face masks and bottles of alcohol began running out during the first week of quarantine.
Galit thought that maybe he could use the catchy tune to urge people to stop panicking, follow the lockdown rules, and practice good hygiene.
"Para magbigay aliw, makabawas stress pero informative," he said, when asked about why he released his parody.
He also explained that people tend to remember things better if it was in the form of a catchy song, as he urged similar artists like him, as well as singers, to use their talent during this time of crisis to become a "channel of joy."
