MANILA — In a "surreal" moment for Angelica Panganiban, the Kapamilya actress had an impromptu video call with Hollywood star Jared Leto, and conversed about keeping safe amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The chat happened on Wednesday (local time), when Leto, via Instagram Live, invited his followers from around the world to join in and discuss their respective situations in relation to COVID-19.
Panganiban was one of several whom Leto got to speak with through video chat, which was seen by thousands of his viewers.
After establishing where Panganiban was from, she explained that she had been under self-quarantine after shooting a film in Dubai. She was referring to Star Cinema's "Love or Money" co-starring Coco Martin.
The candid detail prompted Leto to ask Panganiban if she is an actress, to which she replied in the affirmative.
"I'm glad to hear you're safe and sound and at home, and I hope everything's okay for you guys back there," he told Panganiban.
He then observed that Panganiban had an "interesting voice," and that her "accent is hard to place."
Panganiban could only manage a giggle, before saying that it was "amazing" to get to talk with Leto. She described the moment is "surreal."
Leto agreed, noting that it's a "wild world" amid the pandemic.
"Tell everybody in the Philippines that we love them and we miss them. It's been a long time since we played a concert there. We love the country, and we'd love to come back," he said, referring to his band Thirty Second to Mars.
"We hope everybody stays at home, be good, protect yourself, and be safe," he said.
