She has been drawing flak for supposedly acting snobbish in front of reporters.
And Sofia Andres is blaming the bullying she experienced in school for turning her into a person who fears rejection, revealing how this made her try and avoid social contact as much as possible.
On "Tonight With Boy Abunda" Friday, Andres tearfully recalled the time her classmates cast her out, deeming her "mayabang."
"Nag-start ako mag-approach sa kanila [pero] wala. Oh my God, ang sakit niya," she told the late-night talk show on Friday.
She also shared that she was being looked down upon as a "starlet," and that she became confused over whether to keep chasing friendships despite the possibility of being turned down.
But in explaining that she has learned from her mistakes, Andres acknowledged: "Pero hindi naman pala dapat nilalahat."
"Ngayon I'm trying to change myself. Wala namang mawawala sa akin if I say hi to everyone kahit na i-reject nila ako."
Andres made headlines recently after a few bloggers found her rude for constantly using her phone at a press conference.
She has already apologized, saying that she still has a lot to improve when it came to her social skills. She said she hopes the public would give her a chance to show her "true self."
Andres was on the talk show to promote her role in "Bagani," the new primetime fantaserye starring Enrique Gil, Matteo Guidicelli, Makisig Morales, and Liza Soberano.
