HK film fest to pay tribute to Pinoy legend Ishmael Bernal

This year's Hong Kong International Film Festival is turning the spotlight on the "Genius of Filipino New Wave" by showcasing three of Ishmael Bernal's films, including his masterpiece "Himala."

The 1982 classic which starred Nora Aunor will be screened alongside Bernal's first ever movie, "Pagdating sa Dulo," and his celebrated 1978 romantic drama "Ikaw ay Akin." Ricky Lee, who wrote the script for "Himala," will be at the screenings.

Two other Pinoy films will also be shown at the festival. 

Included in the "Indie Power" section is Shireen Seno's "Nervous Translation," a coming-of-age drama that follows a young girl who finds a pen that can translate the thoughts of shy people like herself.

Lav Diaz, meanwhile, is part of the "Masters" section for his recent Berlinale competition title "Ang Panahon ng Halimaw," which stars Piolo Pascual and Shaina Magdayao.
