MANILA -- Was it a playful response or a slip?
“It’s Showtime” mainstay Vhong Navarro insisted the latter after showbiz newcomer Ion Perez called co-host Vice Ganda “Lab” during the progam’s live episode on Wednesday.
The exchange about the supposed term of endearment happened in the absence of Vice Ganda, whose “ViceJack” tandem with dancer Jackque Gonzaga has evolved to include a love triangle with Perez.
Navarro, who co-hosted the Miss Q&A segment with Anne Curtis and Ryan Bang, was quizzing both Gonzaga and Perez on how they plan to show their support for Vice Ganda, in light of his upcomng Valentine concert series with Regine Velasquez at the Araneta Coliseum.
Gonzaga said she will cheer for the “Fantastica” star from the audience. Perez, meanwhile, gave an example of how he intends to encourage Vice Ganda from backstage.
“Ang galing mo, Lab!” Perez said, triggering shrieks from the studio audience.
At that point, Navarro addressed Vice Ganda by looking directly at the camera. “Tawag sa ’yo Lab? Ikaw, ha! … Sabi ko turuan mo ‘to, e. Nadudulas na rin, e,” he teased.
Navarro then noticed Perez sweating profusely, prompting him to speculate that “Lab” was indeed an actual term of endearment between Perez and Vice Ganda.
In recent weeks, Vice Ganda has been teased repeatedly about a supposed romance with Perez off-camera. He has only responded jokingly, without giving a serious confirmation.
