MANILA - Piolo Pascual celebrated his 43rd birthday on “ASAP” on Sunday, where he turned emotional as he shared his thoughts for the victims of the Taal Volcano eruption.
“Isa po akong Batangueno kaya nararamdaman ko yung paghihirap ng ating mga kababayan sa Batangas. Kaya po ako laging nandoon kasi it’s one thing to help but it’s also another thing to see how they are suffering, to see how their lives have changed because of what happened,” the Kapamilya actor said.
“Wala pong may gusto nito. Kung meron man akong dasal, kung meron man akong gustong sabihin is, let’s just share love," he said.
"Ipakita natin not just through giving but through praying for them, through being with them."
Pascual, who serenaded his fans with "I Will Be Here," confessed his hesitation to celebrate his birthday on the show, as had been his practice for the past 20 years.
He said he would have only wanted to spend some quiet time in his rest house in Batangas.
But he expressed gratitude, nonetheless, for the opportunity to mark another milestone with his supporters and his "ASAP" family.
Taal Volcano, located in Batangas province, erupted on Jan. 12, spewing ash, triggering earthquakes and causing fissures that affected nearly 377,000 people.
On Sunday, exactly two weeks since the start of the crisis, the Phivolcs lowered down the volcano's status to Alert Level 3, allowing most displaced residents to return to their homes and places of work, but with caution.
