MANILA -- “It’s Showtime” on Thursday kicked off its 10th anniversasry countdown with a grand, all-female number including one of its mainstays whose recording career took off, despite being a self-proclaimed “non-singer,” due to her endearing antics on the noontime program.
Anne Curtis, one of the original hosts of the show since its 2009 inception, joined “birit” stars in the energetic number and delighted fans with her fun-loving take on operatic singing.
Also opening the live episode were Yeng Constantino, Rachel Gabreza, Sheena Belarmino, Frenchie Dy, Bituin Escalante, Dessa, and Dulce.
Curtis, 33, has credited “It’s Showtime” for helping expand her career as she became more familiar with Filipino viewers beyond her dramatic roles and “Dyosa” moniker.
Her “baliw-baliwan” romps through spontaneaous singing and acrobatic stunts, in particular, catapulted Curtis as a recording artist who has numerous sold-out concerts to her name.
The grand performance on Thursday, according to the hosts, will be one of many in the coming months, as “It’s Showtime” approaches its actual 10th anniversary in October.
