MANILA – Sarah Geronimo surely has a lot to be thankful for these days.

To start off, her song “Tala” is shining brighter than ever as it entered an international chart tallied by Billboard on Friday.

On its social media channels, Billboard announced “Tala” as a debuting track in the World Digital Song Sales chart, for the week of January 18.

The single from Geronimo’s “The Great Unknown” album entered at No. 12, ranking among tracks from the likes of Red Velvet, BTS, and Blackpink.

The World Digital Song Sales chart ranks the best-selling international singles in the United States.

In addition to invading the Billboard international chart, the official music video of “Tala” also continues to rake in more views on YouTube.

As of writing, it already has more than 55 million views.

Hence, Geronimo could only speak in awe as she thanked everyone for continuously patronizing the four-year-old track.

“Mabuhay ang musikang Pilipino,” she said on “ASAP Natin ‘To” on Sunday. “Tala Nation, ibabalik ko po sa inyong lahat truly ang pasasalamat po at papuri. Maraming maraming salamat. Ang success po ng ‘Tala’ ay sa totoo lang, success po nating lahat.”

Geronimo also took the opportunity to thank her avid supporters for organizing a charity flash mob for the benefit of those affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano in Batangas.

“Salamat po sa Popsters na nag-organize ng ‘Tala Para sa Taal’ flash mob for a cause. They partnered with Philippine Red Cross. Maraming salamat po. Sa mga kababayan natin sa Batangas, sana po nakatulong po kami. Talaga naman po na nakakatuwa na ang ‘Tala’ ay nakakapagbigay ng liwanag at pag-asa sa maraming tao. Maraming salamat po,” she said.

Taal spewed a giant ash column last Sunday, forcing the evacuation of some 39,000 residents from its expanded danger zone. Its volcanic activity has placed the province of Batangas under a state of calamity.

“Tala,” originally released in 2016, became a ubiquitous internet fad in the latter part of 2019, culminating in a nationwide flash mob, dubbed “Tala Nation,” that was televised on ABS-CBN’s “ASAP Natin ‘To” early this month.
