The wage hike order that increased minimum wage to P5,000 from P3,500 takes effect on Jan. 2, 2020 or 15 days after its publication, DOLE-NCR regional director Sarah Buena Mirasol told DZMM radio.

“Ang bagong order ay P5,000 na po starting Jan. 2, 2020, ang minimum wage ng ating kasambahay,” Mirasol said.

(Under the new order, the minimum wage for household workers will be P5,000)

Household workers are also entitled to mandatory benefits such as state pension Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth and Pag-ibig as well as a 13th month pay, Mirasol said.
