MANILA - Traffic navigation app Waze on Friday released Metro Manila December traffic data to help motorists outsmart congested roads this holiday season.

Driving patterns from 2017 indicated that more people travel in December as active users on the road increased by 10 percent compared to other months, Waze said in a statement.

"Make sure you hit the road during the best time, so you can shorten your trip and spend more time with your loved ones," the statement said.

Based on the Waze data, the best time to travel in Metro Manila on Dec. 24 is after 5:00 p.m. while the worst time is between 2:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

On Dec. 25, it is best to travel after 4:00 p.m. while the worst time to leave the house is between 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., and between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., Waze data showed.

On Dec. 31, it is best to be on road after 12:00 p.m. Motorists, on the other hand, were advised to avoid Metro Manila roads from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. the same day.

On Jan. 1, the best time to drive is after 3:00 p.m. while the worst time is between 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. and between 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m, Waze said.

The data is based on the trends observed in December 2017 and January 2018, Waze said.

Waze is a community-based traffic and navigation app where drivers share real-time traffic and road info to help other users save time on the road.
