BUTUAN CITY- Labor groups in Caraga are demanding a P750 national minimum wage for eight hours of work rendered, which they believe employers across the country can provide.
A P750 national minimum wage is “just” compensation and barely enough for a worker who needs P1,088 daily to provide for a family of six, said Jacinto Tanduyan of the Kilusang Mayo Uno.
The daily minimum wage in Caraga is P280 while workers in the National Capital Region receive a minimum of P481.
However, the group's proposal is "not possible," said Earl dela Victoria of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board.
Tanduyan said labor groups are confident President Rodrigo Duterte will fulfill his promise of ending contractualization.
