MANILA - Philippine schools need to change their focus amid the changing business environment, an official of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) said on Monday.
Developments in technology like artificial intelligence and robotics present huge challenges as well as opportunities for businesses, said Donald Lim, governor-in-charge of the MAP CEO Conference Committee.
Schools need to create more entrepreneurs who can take advantage of these opportunities, Lim said.
"If you look at the educational system, whether we accept it or not, we are still training lots of our graduates to be corporate executives. We don't teach them to be a startup founder, to be entrepreneurial," Lim said in an interview on ANC's Market Edge.
He noted that the best inventions and innovations did not come from laboratories of big companies but from small startups.
MAP is holding its 2018 CEO Conference on Sept. 4 with the theme "Business in the Age of Disruption."
