MANILA - Metro Pacific Investments Corp on Wednesday said its unit Maynilad Water Services Inc would appeal a Supreme Court ruling that fined it for violation of the Clean Water Act.
The high court on Tuesday ruled that Maynilad, rival Manila Water and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) were "jointly severally liable" for violations such as failure to put up sewage lines and treatment facilities.
"Please be informed that Maynilad Water Services, Inc has not yet received a copy of the decision. However, Maynilad intends to file a motion for reconsideration within the 15-day period from the time it receives a copy of the decision," Maynilad told the stock exchange.
Fines of over P921.5 million each will be imposed on Maynilad and Manila Water for the said violations, Supreme Court Spokesperson Brian Keith Hosaka earlier said.
