MANILA – Grab on Friday said it was beta-testing new services for pets and for families traveling with children.

GrabFamily offers extra amenities such as a child seat for groups traveling with children, the ride-firm said in a blog post.

It also complies with the Republic Act No. 11229 or the Child Safety Motor Vehicle Act, which was signed into law last February, it said. The law requires the use of car seats when transporting children.

The provided special seat is suitable for children that are 15 to 36 kilos and below 4'9" in height. Alcohol, baby wipes, child restrain chair, sickness bag and tissue bags are among the added amenities for GrabFamily rides, Grab said.

“Extra care for children require certain equipment to help you through your trips. These are the equipment that we will give you to help you give a better service for GrabFamily,” the company said.

GrabPet was launched following the approval of a Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board circular allowing pets inside public utility vehicles, Grab said.

This feature is also applicable for 6-seater cars. Initially, only dogs, cats, turtles, hamsters, rabbits, and fish are allowed on GrabPet rides, Grab said.

Upon checking the app, fares for both GrabPet and GrabFamily are more expensive compared to common GrabCar rides for the same distance.
