MANILA - The Jesi Mendez Salon Group said Wednesday it would restart by the middle of June to ensure that its staff are trained on pandemic protocols.

The salon chain is not rushing to open on June 7, when government will finally allow barbershops and beauty parlors to reopen after nearly 3 months, said COO Camille Ilagan.

"It is very important, that the mindset of our stylists make sure that their attitude is in the right place...The reason why we’re not rushing on June 7 is that we cannot live on haircuts alone. That’s the problem," Ilagan said.

The new health requirements, such as personal protective equipment, will pad costs while fewer customers are expected, she said.
