MANILA - Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp said Wednesday it donated protective suits used in its refinery for frontliners against the coronavirus pandemic.

The multi-tech 4,000 hazmat suits used in their Batangas refinery and donated to the Batangas City Medical Center are lightweight, durable, comfortable and completely sealed, Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp country health manager Luz Rivera

Personal protective equipment is used in its plants to protect workers from chemicals.

Pilipinas Shell earlier donated PPEs to the Philippine General Hospital and the Department of Health, Rivera said.

Health professionals use personal protective equipment such as face masks and suits to avoid getting infection from COVID-19 positive patients.

The same type of hazmat suits were also used by other countries during the Ebola outbreak, Rivera said.
