MANILA - AirAsia said Saturday it would offer 6 million promotional seats for its local and international flights even as global air travel slowed down due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Members of AirAsia's BIG loyalty program can enjoy discounted flights from Manila to Bangkok, from Cebu to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Taipei, Cagayan de Oro, Caticlan, and Puerto Princesa, from Clark to Kaohsiung, and many more all for P1.
Flights from Kuala Lumpur to Fukuoka, Seoul, Gold Coast, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Taipei are also offered for as low as P990.
Booking period is only available from March 9 to 15, the budget carrier said. AirAsia BIG members will be able to take advantage of a 24-hour priority access period on March 8.
Travel period for promo flights is from Sept. 7, 2020 to July 1, 2021.
The Philippines' tourism industry lost about P14.8 billion in February, as tourists postponed travel plans due to fears of contracting the virus, its tourism ministry had said.
The country has a standing ban on travel to China and its territories Hong Kong and Macau.
Industry body International Air Transport Association (IATA) had also warned that the coronavirus epidemic could cost passenger airlines up to $113 billion in lost revenue in 2020.
Flag carrier Philippine Airlines reported it lost a record P10.6 billion in 2019. The coronavirus outbreak and the Taal eruption last January "aggravated" the airline's financial woes, the airline said.
