Never did this couple imagine that their habit of maintaining the household clean for their children would pave the way for their dream vacation to one of the country's top tourist destinations.
For the Capada family, keeping the household free of dirt is part of their routine, couple Manilyn and Arvin said.
Aside from caring for their two sons, cleaning their home consumes most of Manilyn's time.
Handling the day-to-day demands of the home can sometimes become overwhelming, which is why Manilyn said she is grateful that her husband, Arvin, helps her with daily chores despite coming home late in the afternoon from early morning duty as a physical therapist at a navy hospital.
For Manilyn and Arvin, doing household chores together is essential. Even their eldest son Enzo helps any way he can.
When Enzo gets home from school, he is tasked with ensuring his 1-year-old brother's safety while their parents clean house.
"Hati kami talaga sa trabaho dahil hindi namin puwedeng iwanan ang mga bata. Kung may mga maliliit na task, I let Enzo do it," Arvin said.
The couple needs to clean house to ensure there are no unwanted bacteria and germs, and to help their children be free from illness. Their favorite cleaning aid is Mr. Muscle, which has helped them shorten their cleaning time.
The couple also likes Mr. Muscle's toilet strips, which frees the toilet bowl from bacteria while emitting a fragrant smell using only a few bands.
"Ilagay mo lang at kapag flinush mo, it instantly cleans the toilet bowl. Iyong window cleaner at glass cleaner nila, just spray and wipe, it makes the glass spotless," Marvin said.
"Less time for cleaning and afterwards, you can spend your remaining time with your family. More time for family."
After cleaning the home and finishing other house duties, the family relaxes by watching movies, and volleyball and basketball matches on television.
However, the couple revealed that they had always dreamed of a family beach vacation.
TRIP TO CEBU
Their dream family trip became a reality when they won an all-expense paid trip to Cebu in the Mr. Muscle Family Fly Away Promo.
Arvin, Manilyn, and their two children arrived in Cebu on a sunny day – a great start to a summer vacation. From the airport, a shuttle service brought the family to a hotel in Mactan just a few minutes away from the airport and from the province's capital Cebu City.
Upon checking in to their hotel room, Enzo immediately donned his red swimming trunks, and dove into the hotel pool.
The next day, riding a motor banca, the family visited two islands known for different water activities and white sand beaches.
The family snorkeled in the waters off Hilutungan Island, where they saw tropical fish and other protected species within the marine sanctuary.
The family also had the chance to enjoy the white sand beach of Pandanon Island.
On their last day in Cebu, the family paid a quick visit to the Basilica del Santo Niño—the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country, adjacent to the historic Magellan's Cross.
The family also dropped by the famous Tabuan Market where they bought pasalubong for their loved ones in Manila.
MOTHER'S DAY, BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
The family was glad that their vacation in Cebu coincided with the celebration of Mother's Day and Enzo's sixth birthday. It was not one they would forget anytime soon, they said.
"Nakapag-recharge, nakapag-relax, at nakapag-bond as a family. Ang mahalaga, iyong family bonding,” Marvin said.
“Actually kahit saan naman ang importante ay ang kasama mo ang family mo. Makita mo masaya mga bata, masaya ka na rin nun,” he added.
