Many criticize millennials for being materialistic. Some see them as a generation driven by consumerism and overspending.
But this may not be the case anymore. With the right mindset and information, they can be goal-oriented and financially responsible.
This is what filmmaker Zig Marasigan aims to prove by creating the short film "Waves," which is part of Sun Life's Financial Independence Month campaign.
According to the millennial director, he sees this as an opportunity to tell the story of his generation. "Basically, I wanted to tell a young love story about millennials. The thing though with millennials is that we're mistakenly characterized as individuals na hindi namin alam 'yong gusto namin sa buhay," he said.
"Waves" was uploaded on www.sunshorts2.com and on the Facebook page Sun Life Financial Philippines. As of this writing, it has already garnered over 13,300 shares and 2.8 million views.
"Waves" tells the story of millennial surfer Marco and his girlfriend Amanda. Young people who found love by the sea, where they both learned to dream and plan their future. Watch as they prove how their love endures the currents of life.
